More pics

Here are some more pictures from this weekend.

Yesterday we went to breakfast with some friends.

Don't mind that half of my face is hidden.  On the way to the restaurant I noticed that my face was a couple shades darker then my neck (courtesy of the new make-up I bought).  Roo noticed it and decided not to tell me.

After a nap we got Ryan dressed in his new swim outfit.

Such a cool looking dude!!

He LOVES the water

His mo-hawk after the pool

Today it was really hot...so I found a fountain and stuck him in it.

Am I a cool Mom or what?

Happy Birthday!!

Today is Roo's 32nd birthday...and as tribute here's some things about him (interesting facts, things that I love, etc...)

  • He's HOT!!
  • He's the best Dad ever
  • Every time we are in a store that sells sea-food (the kind with the fish laying on the ice) he has to loudly say how disgusting it is.  He just can't help it
  • He also can't help it to quiz me on planes every time he sees one in the sky.  Like I can tell when they're flying way above us.
  • He cleans up after me.  Which is great until he re-folds laundry right after I fold it...then not so much.
  • He always eats what I cook (which sometimes isn't very tasty)
  • He is HILARIOUS!!  Ask him sometime to tell you his "bee" joke.
  • He's almost done with his Master's degree.
  • He just memorized my social security number about 3 months ago. Though I'm not sure if I asked him today he could tell me what it is.
  • He's super handy.  He installed 2 screen doors, a new toilet, and sewed curtains.  Am I lucky or what?
  • He's really smart.  He wouldn't say that he is...but I say any one that can fly is pretty smart in my book.
  • I can't remember a time that he's yelled at me.  And trust me when I say sometimes I've deserved it.
  • He's my best friend.  I have so much fun around him.
  • He makes me laugh so hard that I get the hiccups
  • If he could eat anything it'd probably be the eggplant Parmesan at Olive Garden
  • He is such a good friend...he's very generous with his time and is willing to help his friends out
  • He is such an amazing husband.  He always supports me and I know that he's always going to be in my corner!
Happy Birthday!!

Fun video

As you can tell in this video--Ryan LOVES his hair cut!

Pics

Here are some pics from all of the fun things that we've been doing this weekend!

I just wanted to say that Roo was the one who put these on Ryan

For one of our dates we went to a highly recommended restaurant "Wecks".  It was delicious!!

I just threw this picture in here to show Ryan's top teeth coming in

Our breakfast at Wecks.  The hash brown concoction was actually one order...we just split it up to be on two plates.

Dessert at Cold Stone

Ryan loves brushing his teeth

And today we gave Ryan a mo-hawk.  He actually did REALLY good.

I think that it looks cute...Roo is still undecided.

5 & 6 of 21

Yesterday was pretty busy...so here's 2 days worth

  • Smart friends.  Yesterday Ryan got his finger caught in a door jam.  It pretty much freaked us out.  We wanted to take him to the hospital, but since the base here doesn't have one we'd have to go to the ER (which can sometimes take FOREVER).  Luckily we thought of a friend who is a nurse and had the day off, so we stopped by her house so she could look at it.  She gave it the all clear...there's not too much doctors can do any ways for him, they'd probably just give him some Tylenol.  So we saved our-selves a lot of time, and the tax payers a lot of money.  You're welcome.
  • Southwest Airlines.  I found airfare round trip to my parents in Seattle for $270.  Plus you can check 2 bags for free.  Sweet.
  • Friends.  O.k...tomorrow I'll try to be more original.  I am really grateful for friends though.  We have some friends in Abq. where we take turns babysitting.  We are both going out 3 times this weekend (please don't judge us for being away from our kids that long!).  They're watching Ryan tonight, tomorrow morning, and Monday night, and we're watching their kids tomorrow night, Sunday afternoon, and Monday afternoon.  Saves us a TON of money.
  • 100 calorie pack anything.  I love how nice it is to have a snack already proportioned for me.  Though I am learning it really doesn't do any good if you eat the whole box.

Ice-cream and hats

Today we snuck into Costco.  Actually we just told the lady at the front door that we were going to the Membership counter...and then we b-lined it to the snack bar.  I'm pretty sure that they don't mind since we contributed to their earnings.  Of course we had some ice-cream and made Ryan try on a ton of hats.  And of course the Costco that we went to had pickled asparagus.  I have been looking for them in every Costco/Sam's Club.  Go figure!!
Trying to take the straw from Roo.

Me with my Berry Sundae.  Roo tried to talk me out of getting another one for the road...but I figure that they're FF and I probably won't be able to eat one again soon.

I tried to take a picture of Ryans' middle finger.  He slammed it in the door...it's pretty bruised.  Poor kid.

Of course we made Ryan model hats.  You might remember that he had a blue one like this...which he sneakily  got rid of it while we were walking around a couple of weeks ago.  Unfortunately we didn't notice in time and couldn't find it.

This is an AWESOME hat that I might have to buy the next time I'm visiting my parents

Videos

Here's a video that I took yesterday of Ryan walking with Roo.  I have a feeling that he's going to start walking any day now!

  • Cruise control.  It makes the drive so much better!!  When we were looking for a second car I wanted Roo to buy a Kia that had no power anything (it probably didn't even have A/C)...and it didn't have cruise control.  It was brand new and under $8000.  Thankfully Roo decided against it.
  • Balloons.  The restaurant where we ate dinner tonight had some that they were giving to the kids.  Luckily it distracted Ryan long enough for us to eat.  Yay!!

Long car ride

Today Ryan and I went to Abq to join Roo for Memorial Day weekend.  It was the first time making the drive since I put him in a front facing car seat, and I think that helped a little since I could hand him stuff and try to distract him.

Chewing on my headphones.  Whatever makes him happy!

He wasn't too happy for part of the trip.  Here he just got done screaming.

LOVE when he falls asleep!

The beautiful scenery...this was more towards Abq. so there's some hills.  The rest of the time there's not even that!!

Not too interesting to look at

McDonald's in Santa Rosa.  I'm always so excited when I get here...it means we're half way.

Thanks to Grandpa, Ryan LOVES smoothies!

My soda bottle kept him happy for about 5 minutes

Such a happy boy!!

So glad to be with dad!

After dinner we went and got ice-cream...Ryan would just sit there patiently waiting with his mouth open.

Me after I got my make-up done (and spent a whole month's allowance buying it).  Roo then proceeded to tell me that he didn't really like it so much.  Great.

3 of 21

Today I am thankful for:
  • Nice people!!  I got a text today from one of the girls that watches Ryan at the Y that said, "I wanted you to know I think you're the prettiest mom I've ever seen :)"  I'm thinking that she might just really like our family...because she had PLENTY of nice things to say about Roo.  Trust me when I say I'm not at my best form when I'm working out and Roo's out of town...so it really meant a lot to me.  I know it's my Mom's pet peeve when people don't take compliments, so I texted her back and said thank-you and how much I appreciated it.  It just made me realize how the little things we do and say to people can have such an impact on their day.

  • DVR.  The French Open started earlier this week (Yay!!)  and thanks to DVR I can watch matches that normally last a couple of hours in about 30 minutes.  I know that it probably doesn't make sense to watch a tennis match in fast forward, and I would much rather watch it in real time, but there's a little thing called "Ryan" which prevents me from watching 8 hours of tennis a day.

2 of 21

I heard somewhere that it takes 21 times of doing something for it to become a habit.  I think that it was either from my Mom or Dr. Phil.  So I'm going to blog about 2 things each day that made me happy/I'm thankful for...and pretty soon I'm sure that I'll have a much better attitude.  **I just want to make it clear that I'm sure that I can come up with more than two (I'm not that much of a "Debbie Downer")

Here are my two for today:
  1. Ryan slept through the night again!!  It's been about 4 days straight now.  It's amazing how much better you feel after a night of uninterrupted sleep.
  2. The fact that Roo has a job (extra bonus points that it's one he enjoys).  I was looking today at getting tickets to visit my parents in a couple of months, and I'm so thankful that he works hard so that I can afford to go.

Water Boy

Ryan LOVES playing in the water.  I bought this little pool for him at Wal-Mart for $10.  I should have just paid another $10 and bought a bigger one, because every time I turned my back he would crawl out.

I warmed him back up by giving him a bath.  At the beginning of this video I catch him putting his face in the water (as you can tell by the bubbles on his face)...I think it's so cute when he does that!

Pity party--Party of 1

I feel like I've been in a bit of a funk lately.  For the first couple of days I blamed it on quitting caffeine...but now that I've picked my habit back up I'm not sure what my excuse is.  Whenever I start to feel like this I re-read my Patriarchal blessing...at least 9 times I'm told to be grateful and appreciative.  Obviously this is something that I need help with!!

So this week I'm going to dedicate my blog to my blessings!!  I'll start off this week with my body (feel free to hit the X in the right corner if you want!).  For all of the gripes that I have about my body, I am so thankful to be healthy.  As someone who has has health issues, I know what it's like to want nothing more than to just be healthy...and not feel sick 24 hours a day.

When we were in England I started working out with a personal trainer.  My first meeting with her I was in the back getting tape measured when another trainer came in.  There I was getting taped in my sports bra and shorts...the other trainer looked me over and he said, "You have nice shoulders."  I'm sure anyone else would have taken that as a compliment, but to me I thought, "Really...that's all you can say?  I have nice shoulders?"  It's kind-of like telling someone they have a nice personality.  I guess it's kind-of strange that I would have liked an inappropriate comment better.

I have so say that I've become proud of my shoulders!!  Just the fact that I can carry Ryan (who is HEAVY), my purse (which is full of crap--a total mom purse), bags of groceries, and generally a Diet Coke...all without spilling I think is quite an accomplishment.  I realize that I need to give myself some slack.  I am going to put this cross-stitch that my Mom made me somewhere that I can see it everyday.  I need to remember that I am a daughter of a Heavenly Father who loves me...and I need to treat myself accordingly.

Friday foto: Tacoma after the wedding

I pretty much have the coolest family ever.  For those of you who know mine and Roo's history (the REAL one)...you'll know that things went pretty quickly.  I went to visit my parents the middle of May ('05) and I told my Mom that we were planning on eloping...mostly for logistical and financial reasons.  She was actually pretty cool about it and said that she would support us if that's what we decided to do, but that if we gave her a couple of weeks she would put something together.  We gave her until July 2...and she did a great job (I know that I'm giving all of the credit to my Mom...but I for sure have to thank my Dad for paying for it!!).

The day after the wedding we to downtown Tacoma to see a boat show.  It was a lot of fun!!

You'd think that my Mom would look a lot happier that she finally married me off!!

You can tell that we were newlyweds because Roo is wearing a necklace (which I find HOT and he has not done probably since this picture)...and I grew out of those pants.  and shirt. It just means that we're comfortable with each other.  That's a good thing right?

I've decided that it's pretty much hopeless trying to keep the house clean.  Why you may ask?  One word--Ryan.
Here is is helping re-arrange our DVD's.  This gets knocked over at least once a day.

This is what happens when I'm on Facebook instead of playing with him.

At least he hasn't figured out how to take the lids off of things yet.  I'm sure that's going to be a FUN stage!

In case you're wondering what you can accomplish in one week by working out for 7 hours and 9 minutes, you can:

  • burn 2,316 calories
  • have the child care workers at the Y really get to know your kid
  • feel so good after working out that you eat healthy
  • have every single muscle on your body feel sore
  • realize that you need to buy more workout clothes...and deodorant
and my personal favorite:
  • lose .9 of a pound
Really!?!?  I know that I should be thankful that I lost something...but I would think with all of the work I could have at least lost a whole pound!!  Now is normally the time when I say "Screw it" (I know my parents don't approve of that phrase...but it's the kindest one I could post) and eat my weight in cookie dough, but I'm not going to.  I am going to stick with what I'm doing and see how this week goes!

Another tooth!

Ryan is starting to get one of his top teeth (sorry for the poor quality...it was taken by my camera phone).  I just want to say that I was getting him to smile by letting him hit me in the face.  I'm probably setting him up to fail later in life...but at least I got the picture!

more pics of Ryan's hair

Here are some more pictures of Ryan's hair.
