Play ball!

Sorry that this post is a little late.  Roo ended up getting sick with a virus that he was told was really contagious, so Ryan and I spent the past two nights in a different hotel.  I didn't want to take any chances of getting sick before our trip to Utah tomorrow!!

On Easter we went to an Isotopes baseball game.  It was a lot of fun.  They had an Easter egg hunt which we took Ryan to before the game (don't worry--we weren't the only parents of non-walkers who did it).  We had great seats, though we only made it sitting there until the 3rd inning.  After that we moved to some grass that they had for families to sit on...Ryan enjoyed that a lot better!

We were in the group of the 0 - 4 year olds

Some of the good loot!

Trying to put candy in his hand...I don't think he fully appreciated what was going on.

We even made it on the scoreboard!

Easter weekend

We had a fun day today.  Ryan and I started out by taking a walk this morning.  The weather was perfect so I stopped by a field and let him crawl around (plus we were letting Dad sleep in so I wanted to kill some time.  Am I a good wife or what?).  After that we went and babysat the girls' of the family who watched Ryan yesterday, and tonight we went for a walk around town.

Ryan enjoying the grass.  We could only find one sock.

There were people flying model airplanes...I think that he enjoyed it.

Getting his exercise

Walking to Trader Joe's...where Roo discovered that some strange people shop there.

I just can't help putting him in hats.  I think that he looks so handsome in this one

While Roo was in the Apple store, Ryan and I found a fountain.  I'm sure that it would be perfect on a hot day...we'll have to go back during the day.

A great day

Yesterday Ryan and I made it safely to Abq.  This morning we woke up early to go on the Spouse's flight.  I don't think that Ryan was too thrilled about being woken up at 6...but he was such a good sport.  After a much needed nap, we dropped him off with a family that answered an ad I put on a yard sales website about wanting to swap kids.  We met them a couple of weeks ago when I was in town, and we've hung out with them a couple of other times to get to know their girls (age 3 and 2).  They watched Ryan tonight, and we're watching their girls tomorrow.   We spent our date night walking around Sams Club (surprise, surprise) and meeting some friends for dinner.

You know how we LOVE putting Ryan in hats.  You have to admit...he is pretty cute!

The view out of the back.  We took off and landed in hover mode...which was pretty neat.  I didn't know that we landed!

Such beautiful scenery!

Of course as my picture was being taken the gunner stepped in front.  If you look close enough you can see my thumbs.

I took this picture when I was sitting by the cock-pit.  It's TONS smaller that the KC-135.

I edited some video that I took when I was about 2 feet from the ramp and got this picture...hence why my face looks so weird!

They gave us certificate showing that we had a CV-22 ride.  No, my thumb isn't broken...it's just double jointed.

Us at dinner enjoying some New Mexican food.  They even had a mariachi band!

Ryan showing us how flexible he is...

such talent.  Maybe he's a future gymnast.

Albuquerque Playlist

The only other good thing about driving to Albuquerque (besides the excuse to eat bags of candy and drink diet soda) is that I burn new Cd's from Itunes to listen to on the way there.  I don't pay for it out of my account because I think that if I'm going to drive that far with a kid (don't know if I can call him a baby anymore)... that I deserve it.  You don't get reception for about 90% of the drive...so it's essential to bring a long a c.d.  Here is my playlist that I'm going to use tomorrow.  And Mom and Dad...there are no Alanis Morisette songs from her c.d. that you made me throw away when I was in High School because you thought it was inappropriate.  You guys still owe me $12.95.

  1. "What the Hell" by Avril Lavigne
  2. "Till the World Ends" by Britney Spears
  3. "It's Gonna Be Me" by N'SYNC
  4. "Pretty Girl Rock" by Keri Hilson
  5. "Rain" by Breaking Benjamin
  6. "Don't Stop Believin'" by Journey
  7. "Knock you Down" by Keri Hilson
  8. "It Ends Tonight" by the All-American Rejects
  9. "Raise Your Glass" by Pink
  10. "Party in the USA" by Miley Cyrus
  11. "Telephone" by Lady Gaga
  12. "Hey Soul Sista" by Train
  13. "Come Get Higher" by Matt Nathanson
  14. "The Man Who Can't Be Moved" by the Script
  15. "Jumper" by Third Eye Blind
  16. "Single" by New Kids on the Block
  17. "Gangsta's Paradise" by Coolio
  18. "Forever Young" by Rod Stewart

Things that make me happy

I was thinking today about all of the things that I want to accomplish.  Normally my thought process is:  I will be happy when I lose X amount of weight; I will be happy when I finally finish school; I will be happy when I can finally manage my time better and keep my house clean.

I realized today that honestly those things might never happen, and I need to be happy now...because we never know what lies ahead of us.  So here are a couple of things that make me happy!!  Please don't judge me if most of them are food.

Candy corn!!  I just discovered a few years ago candy pumpkins...even more delicious!!

And since I'm on the subject of candy corn, I'll throw out my all time favorite!!

I LOVE this show!!  I have to admit that it's the highlight of my Wednesday.  Unless I get to video chat with Roo of course.

I do not know what I would do without hair dye.  Needless to say, we have a love/hate relationship.  I hate the I have to dye my hair, but I'm so grateful that I can!

Of course Costco yogurt makes me happy, and it's fat free...Holla!!  Though I do have a fear that it will be like the "Seinfeld" episode, and I'll find out one day that it's not even remotely fat-free.  Until then though I'll just enjoy it.  I'm sure Costco will be one of our first stops in Utah.

And of course...these guys make me VERY happy!!  I am so thankful that I get to spend a couple days out of the month with my baby's daddy...and all of my time with the best kid (I guess that I can't call him "baby" anymore!) in the world!!  I know that being a stay-at home Mom isn't the most glamorous job, but I'm thankful that we're in a position that I can be one.  And on those days that I'm not so thankful...I'll remember to come back and read this.

Weekend with Daddy

Roo came home to visit us with this weekend...which we were really excited about!!  We took advantage of the nice weather and went to a park.

The boys

Family shot...at least I was fully featured.  One of the perks of being the one taking the picture.  Plus I figure that on the rare occasion that I do my hair...I should document it.

Looking at the lake...and I use that word loosely.  We were pretty disappointed.

I thought that this ducks mo-hawk was HILARIOUS!!  Yes, I get entertained easily

After the park we went out to eat.  I may or may not have had anything in the house for dinner on purpose just so we would have to.  Since Roo eats out every meal in Albuquerque I figured that he'd probably just want to stay in  for dinner...but that's kind-of hard to do when nothing is defrosted.  Oops.  We decided to try someplace new to eat.  It was o.k..  We should have just stuck to our norm of either Chili's or Chinese.  When will we learn?

Ryan's getting pretty good at using a fork...of course he uses the wrong end, but we still think that he's a genius!

Today Roo mowed our dead lawn...we're hoping that will help resurrect it.

Ryan watching Dad mow.  I have to admit that I have taken full advantage for having Roo home.  Nothing like putting him his jumper and legally being able to shut the door.

Our neighbors dog looking at what was going on.

Friday Foto: OK, more like Friday video

I know that I've posted this video before, but I still get a kick out of it, and I'm running out of pictures on our computer to post.

The background to this video is that we found out we were pregnant the week that both of our parents came to England to visit us. We made them mugs...the ones for my parents said "Get Ready...you're going to be a Grandma/pa". Roo's parents' said "Get Ready...Grandkid #10 is on the way". We said that we had some presents to tell them thanks for coming to visit us.  Roo thought that it would give it away if he filmed it...but they all said that they didn't have a clue!

Love it

I came across this quote today and I LOVE it!!

"Anyone who imagines that bliss is normal is going to waste a lot of time running around and shouting that he has been robbed. The fact of the matter is that most putts don't drop, most beef is tough, most children grow up to be just people, most successful marriages require a high degree of mutual toleration, most jobs are more often dull than otherwise. Life is like an old time rail journey...delays, sidetracks, smoke, dust, cinders and jolts, interspersed only occasionally by beautiful vistas and thrilling bursts of speed. The trick is to thank the Lord for letting you have the ride."  -- Pres. Hinckley

Roo's Rebuttal to: "EYEBROW" debate...see previous post

It's Roo!  The good thing about knowing Angela's password is that I can make my own blog comment...especially when Angela is throwing out fabricated accusations (nice wording, huh?)!!

Anyway, I show you Exhibit A:

Look at those unplucked eyebrows!!  I'm thinking they're a little thicker than mine...just saying!  Hey, if I plucked my eyebrows too I could blame someone else as well!  Love you babe!

Either way, Ryan - even with his thick eyebrows - looks very very handsome (for a little dude) and I'm sure will have to bat away the little chicas in the coming months!   Just wait and see!

I rest my case,
Roo

Our eyebrow debate

Roo and I are in disagreement as to where Ryan gets his thick eyebrows from.  We especially think it's so funny when we're giving him a bath and they get wet.  They droop down and look even more noticeable.  Roo thinks that it's from me.  I'll let you guys decide.

This maybe the worst picture of me...ever (it's even more scary if you double click on it).  I'm really surprised that nobody staged an intervention and took away my tweezers.

Pretty sure he gets them from Roo.
