Fun time with Dad!

We came up to Albuquerque this week to visit Roo.  We originally came up to run the 5K on Saturday, but Roo found out that he's going to be spending the weekend in San Diego.  I'm still debating if I want to run it by myself...I'll let you know.

We've been having a good time here.  Some friends from England are here for a couple of weeks (they leave this weekend too) and they watched Ryan tonight so that Roo and I could go watch a movie.  She also snuck me into Costco, which is always great.  Roo thought that it was weird that I asked everyone we met if they had a membership...but it finally paid off!!

Here are some pics from the last couple of days.  By the way--I just noticed that it looks like he's wearing the same outfit in all of the pictures...but they're not.  Just similar.

Being a good sport after being so good in the car!

Enjoying his Christmas present from Secret Santa.  He can kind-of scoot backwards...and then tip over.

Looking so serious in his sleep

I just think that it's really cute how he crosses his legs.

With Daddy at dinner.  A lot of our pictures revolve around food.  Mostly because we don't have a kitchen...so it's a good excuse to eat out.

Waiting for me to get out of the shower

Mormon Messages: What Matters Most

I'm probably way behind the times...but I just discovered "Mormon Messages" and Youtube, and I think that it is fantastic!!

Our crushes

Admit it or not--everyone has a list of past crushes and current crushes of people that you find attractive. It can be kind-of fun to talk to your spouse about. Just a little hint though--make sure that your answers are pretty far fetched..don't say anything like, "Our waitress from last night"...that's just awkward.

It took a lot of convincing for Roo to tell me his answers. He always lies and says that he doesn't find anybody attractive anymore. Ya right. Here is what we finally came up with.

Our list consists of 2 earlier crushes, and one current one.

1.  Roo's had a crush on the cast of "Baywatch"...ONLY the women (he made me clarify that part)

2.  Kelly from "Saved by the Bell"...just like every other guy who grew up watching the show.  He did point out that his crush was only Kelly circa 1997...now he just thinks that she's kind-of weird.

3.  It was hard for him to come up with a current crush (because he lies) but he settled on Megan Fox.  Which I think is totally a good choice...she's HOT!

Here's my list:

1.  The first crush that I can remember having is on McGyver.  Who doesn't love a man that can build a bomb out of a toothpick, a piece of gum, and a belt?

2.  M.J.  6 championship rings--enough said.

3.  My current crush is Michael Vartan (from Alias).  I just think that he's a great guy. I know that sounds pretty crazy considering that I've never met him...but I can just tell that he is.

I tend to forget that actors are just that--acting when they're on screen.  There's just some that I really like.  I think that they're good people.

That's why when I saw a commercial for a bank with Sam Waterson (from Law &Order) I almost wanted to call and transfer my money.  I mean...that's Jack McCoy.  He wouldn't lie to me.

That's also the same reason I would never buy anything from this guy.  I'm sure that he's nice and all, but I'd still be afraid that he'd try to kidnap me and then kill me.  Sorry guy.

Fun times!

I am so excited!!  I just booked my trip to Utah to go back and see my girlfriends from High School.  I've been wanting to go back for a while, but it seems like there's never been an ideal time to go.  But I figure that I should go while Roo is in training, and I only have one child to lug around.  My Mom is being kind enough to meet me there so that she can watch Ryan while us girls go out...I'm just hoping that I don't have an 8:00 curfew still, because that would just be awkward.

In other exciting news...I finally talked Roo into giving me the amount of money from the tax refund that I was hoping to get.  I had to tell him that he could get the same amount also for him to finally go for it.  Last night we both opened new accounts for our money and allowance to go into.  While I'm super excited about this...I just wish that I would have waited a few more weeks to bring it up again.  Mainly because he said that I could pay for my Utah trip from my account.  Yay!

Sunday

Since we were all dressed up I thought it'd be a good chance for us to take pictures.  Roo and Ryan are always so great at putting up with me when I run to get the camera.  The things I do for my blog followers...all 6 of you!

The handsome boys

I hope that I'm not the only one out there who thinks I look different that I actually do.  The way that I thought  I looked after I got ready...and the way that I look in this picture are VERY different.  I'm pretty sure though that everyone will be looking at Ryan's cute dimples and not notice me.

After church I put Ryan to work swiffering the floors

He did a pretty good job!

Clovis fun

Roo made the 3 hour trek home this weekend to be with us.  It's taken us a little while to adjust to him being around...but we should get it figured out right around the time that he leaves again!!

Today the weather was beautiful so we decided to go for a walk around the town.

Us getting ready

Can you guess which yard is ours?  I'll give you a little hint--we haven't watered it since September

The boys

We walked to a local drink shop to get some smoothies and snow cones.  FYI--sugar free snow cones are GROSS!  And since I'm on this note...so are S.F. Red Vines.

The guys bonding watching "Jersey Shore".  Right after this they started fist pumping, and right now they're tanning.

Friday foto: Engagement photo

This picture was taken in Ft. Walton Beach, FL, and over all I think that it turned out pretty well.  Especially when you consider that it was taken with a disposable camera...and by a random person we found on the beach.  Our engagement was only about 8 weeks long, so I didn't have too much time to throw these together.  But in the end we got a TON of presents...so mission accomplished.

My mom was not very excited about my attire, and looking back I should not have been very excited about my muffin top...but oh-well.  We were young, in love and tan.

Shape up for Summer!

A friend and I both have goals to get in shape for summer.  We've decided that if we both lose a certain amount of weight, that we will get each other a gift (nothing crazy...we have a limit of $20).  We've given ourselves until the end of May.  I know that I start a healthy eating plan just about every week...but I'm really excited about this.  Mainly because I want a gift, and I don't want her to out do me!

Yesterday and today I took Ryan out for a walk.  Today we walked to Wal-Mart to buy a scale...that way I can keep track.  I will admit that I stopped by Taco Bell on the way back.  I wanted some of their sauce so that I can make quesadiallas at home, but figured that if I just walked in and took a handful...that would be stealing.  So I did what any honest person would do...ordered some tacos...and then took about 20 packets home.

I feel like I'm still trying to get a hang of this whole "Mom" thing.  Yesterday on our walk I had Ryan in a short-sleeve onesie.  The wind was blowing CRAZY and it ended up being too chilly.  Today I had him in a long-sleeve with legs onesie (o.k., his pajamas) and it was too hot!!  One day I'll figure it out.

He wouldn't keep his hat on for anything.

Getting his Vitamin D for the day.  Yes, I do know this is kind-of ghetto.

Momma's boy

And no, I'm not talking about Roo.  I've noticed since we've been home that Ryan will cry when I leave the room and he's by himself.  This is a first because I wasn't able to leave the room when I was at my parents -- their downstairs has an open floor plan, and I had to be in the same room with him upstairs so that he wouldn't go head first down the stairs.  In Albuquerque there is only one room, so by default we were always with him.

I'm not sure if it's because he's a lone, or if it's because he misses me.  Call me crazy, but I kind-of like to think it's the latter.  I don't want to have a kid that cries anytime I leave, or won't go to strangers...but it is kind-of nice to think that I'm that important to him.  It's not that I don't think that I'm important to the other people in my life, but let's face it.  I can't say that my husband would fall apart with out me...so far he's survived these past couple of months, my cat could care less about me (maybe he's still hurt that we gave him away), my brother only reads this blog when his wife makes him, and I am just the vessel that gave my parents their grandchild.

So while it won't be as cute in 10 years if Ryan still cries every time that I'm out of his line of vision...I think that I'll just enjoy it for now.

We made it

We finally made it back to NM!  I've discovered that each flight I go on with Ryan gets slightly less and less fun.  I vaguely remember the days when I would catch up on some sleep, or treat myself by getting a magazine.  Those days are LONG gone.  On the way back I had two stops.  Both flights were full and I was in the middle seat.  Ryan is SO active, it was hard to contain him to the 1 inch of space that I had on either side of me.  Luckily both flights I sat next to some really nice people who did their best to try to help me entertain him.  I told Roo that the first time we fly as a family he can hold Ryan, and I'm going to sit about 20 rows away from them.  I'm NOT kidding.

It's so nice to be home and actually put Ryan in his own room and shut the door.  The house is a mess, as I'm slowly unpacking and trying to chase after Ryan now that he can crawl.  Oh, and I'm really wishing that I would have done more school work when I was at my parents and had somebody to watch him.  That was so dumb!!

Here are some pics from WA and Albuquerque.

Ryan winking for the camera

I can hear Roo gagging now all the way from here

He actually enjoyed crab.  Too bad that he's only going to ever eat it when he's at Grandmas.  That and mushrooms.

Much to my Moms horror we found a sitter on-line and went out to eat at the Melting Pot (thanks Jim and Aki for the gift card).  Not the best picture of me, but I thought that I'd better document us going out by ourselves.  And I will just mention that it was even more special because Roo didn't even look at his phone once!

Showing daddy his new tricks: winking AND standing up.  We should get him an agent!

So handsome!

All about Ryan

I saw this on a friends Facebook page and figured that I'd fill it out...I'm having a hard time coming up with original things to blog about!

Here's some information on Ryan!

1. WAS YOUR FIRST PREGNANCY PLANNED? As planned as it can be when you both have NO idea about ovulation or any of that other stuff.

2. WERE YOU MARRIED AT THE TIME? Yes

3. WHAT WERE YOUR REACTIONS? Shocked, scared, felt like my life was over. The last one was hard for Roo to understand considering that we were trying.  Finding out your pregnant and trying to get pregnant...two TOTALLY different things

4. WAS ABORTION AN OPTION FOR YOU? Never

5. HOW OLD WERE YOU? 27

6. HOW DID YOU FIND OUT YOU WERE PREGNANT? I did my weekly ritual of taking a pregnancy test.  Before getting pregnant, I was sure about 27 other times that I was pregnant.

7. WHO DID YOU TELL FIRST? Roo

8. DID YOU WANT TO FIND OUT THE SEX? I didn't want to, but Roo did.  He didn't want to find out to pick a name or decorate the nursery...he just said that we would get better baby shower gifts if we knew the sex.

9. DUE DATE? May 11, 2010

10. DID YOU HAVE MORNING SICKNESS? No, thank goodness!

11. WHAT DID YOU CRAVE? Taco Bell

12. WHO/WHAT IRRITATED YOU THE MOST? That fact that Roo monitored what I ate.  Looking back I'm glad that he did or else I would have been even more ginormous...but at the time it bugged me.  I felt like that's the one time that I could eat what I wanted and not care, because who's going to look at a pregnant lady funny who's eating crap.  Oh yeah, my husband.

13. WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST CHILD'S SEX? Boy

14. DID YOU WISH YOU HAD THE OPPOSITE SEX OF WHAT YOU WERE GETTING? Roo wanted a girl; I KNEW that it was a girl; and when I told my Mom it was a boy all she said was, "Oh".

Now we couldn't imagine it any other way!!
15. HOW MANY POUNDS DID YOU GAIN? 40!!  LOVED every pound of it.  I really thought that I rocked it...until looking back at pictures

16. DID YOU HAVE A BABY SHOWER? Yes.

17. WAS IT A SURPRISE OR DID YOU KNOW? I knew about it...it was SO wonderful!

18.DID YOU HAVE ANY COMPLICATIONS DURING YOUR PREGNANCY? His head wouldn't fit thru my pelvis.  TMI?  Sorry.  Good think that I didn't tell you about my flatulence..that would have really been TMI.

19. WHERE DID YOU GIVE BIRTH? Good ole Clovis, NM.

20. HOW MANY HOURS WERE YOU IN LABOR? Entered the hospital around 5 AM, had him about 9:30 PM

21. WHO DROVE YOU TO THE HOSPITAL? Roo

22. WHO WATCHED YOU GIVE BIRTH? Roo.  Though he had strict orders not to look anywhere from the neck down.

23. WAS IT NATURAL OR C-SECTION? C-section

24. DID YOU TAKE MEDICINE TO EASE THE PAIN? I sold out and took drugs before I even felt any pain.  And to be honest...that's my plan for next time too.

25. HOW MUCH DID YOUR CHILD WEIGH? 7 pounds 12 ounces...I think.  I just asked my Mom and she's not too sure either.  Our bad

26. WHEN WAS YOUR CHILD ACTUALLY BORN? May 6, 2010

27. WHAT DID YOU NAME YOUR CHILD? Ryan Andrew

28. HOW OLD IS YOUR FIRST BORN TODAY? 10 months and 7 days...I can't believe it.

Get up!

Ryan has been changing so much just this past week.  He's now able to stand up in his pack 'n play.  It definitely is a lot harder now to ignore him.  My bed is about 2 feet from his P n P and this morning I really didn't want to wake up...I was hoping that he would fall back asleep, but after a few minutes of him crying I turned on the light and found him just looking at me (not acutal picture...he was more pissed and less smiley!!)  Yea, I felt pretty bad about ignoring him.  Luckily he's so forgiving.  I could definitely learn a few lessons from him.

I love Fridays!!

Back in the day when I was working a 9-5 job...I LOVED the weekends.  I really enjoy sleep, and I know that most people probably think it's a waste of the day to sleep until 2, but I didn't.  And I really miss it.  Now that I have a 24 hour job I'm not sure that I have a favorite day.  Andrew would probably say Sunday because it's the one day that I get out of my sweats for a couple of hours and try to look presentable.

When I'm visiting my parents though...I LOVE Fridays!!  My mom works 4 10 hr shifts, so she has Fridays off.  So my typical Friday here is walking Ryan downstairs when he wakes up (chances are my Mom has been up for a few hours already...she's crazy like that), handing him off to her and then going back to bed.  If I'm really lucky she'll lay him down for his afternoon nap and then when he wakes up from that...I'll get up.  Then we hit up Costco (which I've already established that my Mom treats me).  I do want to say though that I always write her a check before I leave for the money she has given me/things she has bought me.  Granted, I do take out the "Privilege to see your only Grand child for a month fee"...which equals out to about .80 cents on every dollar that I owe, but still...it's something.  Then we go to a Korean store to pick up some vegetables and get some lunch.  Overall it's such a great day!

We were able to stop by my Dad's work and show off Ryan this Friday, which was a real treat.

Ryan at the commissary.  I thought that he would be way too small for this cart...but he fit

Not the best quality...the picture was taken with my camera phone.

The other night Blue jumped into the Pack n' Play with Ryan...don't worry he didn't smother him

You can obviously tell by these pictures that Ryan move A LOT!!

And yes, incase you didn't know...pack n' plays make a great hanging area for your clothes.  Who wants to take the time to fold them and put them away?

Here's a video of Ryan and Blue.  I stopped to abruptbly because I could just imagine Blue getting mad and Ryan losing an eye.  Some how we need to teach him how to get gentle.

FRIDAY FOTO (on sat.)

(ROO): Sorry for the late FRIDAY FOTO memory...again.  I once again am late at doing my job...yes, I should be fired, but Angela loves me too much to do that...for now!  I was looking for some old pictures but I couldn't find anything that old, I look the exact same in all of them.  Until I came across these pics...can't get much older than these.  They're pictures of the launch of S.S. Egg Harbor...built by my Grandfather and christened by my Grandma.  Pretty impressive if you ask me, I couldn't built a toy wooden boat that floats if my life depended on it.  Maybe there's hope for Ryan...I heard braincells and smartness skips generations at times.

Trip to Subway

I must really love my husband. And Subway. To walk 2 miles round trip in the rain to get a sandwich (and burn some calories). I normally always get the same thing: a foot long oven roasted chicken breast on wheat.  I normally get a foot long because it's only .75 cents more than a 6-inch. That logic gets us every time that we go to Krispy Kreme (it's a better deal to get a dozen then just 4) or to the movies (it's only .50 more to get a gallon of coke them a liter).  Today I only got a 6 inch...and amazingly it was enough to fill me up!  I saved .75 cents and 300 calories!!
He obviously wasn't too sure about the idea when we left home.

Then came the rain...luckily I had this cover

Enjoying a cookie

10 month party

Today we had a party for Ryan's 10 month birthday.  My mom originally thought that we should do something for when he turns 1 in May.  I looked into tickets for them to come out to NM and the cheapest tickets that I found were about $650 for both of them.  Personally, I thought that would be WAY too much to spend for a weekend on a party that Ryan is not going to remember.  We decided that since I'm here we'd just do something for his 10 month.

I have to say after today...I'm SO glad that we did it this way because he had no emotions what soever.  I would have felt really bad for them to fly all the way out there for not even a smile!!  On his behalf, we did wake him up from a nap and then thrust him in a room full of people...he probably didn't know what was going on.

My parents provided the people (since I don't know anyone here).  They had to be really sneaky about it and invited people over for "lunch" after church.  No-one knew that it was actually to celebrate Ryan's 10 month b-day.  Do people really have something better to do an fast Sunday than go celebrate someone turning 10 Months old?  We thought they might...so trickery was key.

Ryan's awesome cake.  In case you're wondering...I didn't make it.  Costco did.

Wouldn't be a real party without party hats!

I stripped him down thinking that he was going to get cake everywhere.  That was actually what I was most looking forward to today...a cute photo op of him making a mess.

Instead I got the one time ever in his life that he wanted to eat with a spoon in stead of his fingers.

Here are some videos that I mainly posted for posterity.  Plus it took me forever to upload them, so there was no way that I wasn't going to post them. You won't offend me if you don't watch them...like I said...pretty anti-climatic
