Summer fun

Thankfully it hasn't started being too hot outside yet (though I'm sure my parents in Seattle would be overheating in 90 degree weather).  I've tried to take Ryan out as much as possible because I'm sure in a couple months when I'm even more pregnant I won't want to be outside to save my life.

I took Ryan to the zoo with a friend.  He enjoyed walking around, not so much wearing a hat.  I've heard that our zoo is the 2nd largest one in New Mexico.  Ryan actually walked the whole time...which is showing you just how small/big it is.

Ryan now puts on his own sandals...yay!  Though sometimes it would be so much quicker for me to do it for him I'm glad that he's able to do it for himself.

He's started doing a smile with one eye closed more...not sure what that's all about.

This weekend we took Ryan to feed some ducks in town...it's one of our favorite pastimes.

Sadly the place was a mess...as you can tell by the dead fish.  I should be a good citizen and clean up the place sometime. Instead maybe I'll just harass the city to get someone to do it.

My belly is kind-of hidden but trust me...it's there.  Sadly I gained 7 pounds in 3 weeks.  The doctor said I need to keep an eye on that...I guess I have no excuse when the baby is only about 1 lb.

I've learned that if I even think about taking Ryan to a park I need to put him in tennis shoes.  He dislikes getting dirt in his sandals...though I try telling him that it's going to happen.  He instead wants to take his shoes off every couple of seconds and get the rocks out.

So proud

A couple of weeks ago I took Ryan bowling on base (we're back to our routine of going at least twice a week) and he got two strikes!  He'll bring it up randomly and say how happy Papa will be...today he named off everyone who will be happy for him.

Two strikes

p.s.  Annie--he normally says your name!  This was the first time I actually thought about taking some video.

More of Washington and Portland

Obviously I haven't looked at the camera for quite a while...here are some pictures that I took when we were up in Washington and also from our trip to Portland.

Ryan getting ready to find some Easter Eggs.  I'm sure I mentioned already that he was quite good at finding them.

We were really lucky to have Roo up there for some of the time with us.  Plus we even got a tour of the flight line to see his planes (which in case we weren't supposed to I won't post any pictures of them...though I'm not admitting that I did take any)

Since Ryan LOVES trains my Dad put together a trip to ride the Amtrak train to Portland.  I'm not sure who had more fun...my Dad or Ryan.

Waiting for the train to leave.

Enjoying the beautiful scenery.  I heard it was nice...I slept most of the way.

Having fun with Papa.

We were trying to get Ryan to make an "O" for the Ducks...I don't quite think he knew what he was supposed to do.

Enjoying the sun.

Waiting in line to board the train back to Washington.

Randoms

I haven't been very good at taking pictures this week...so here are some random ones I've scrounged up from our phones.

When we were in Abq I managed to find someone who has a Costco membership so that I could look around and buy a few things.  Some of the guys met us there for lunch...I'm pretty sure it was the cheapest meal we had up there.

Also in Abq we were fortunate enough to get to watch Roo Go-Kart for 3 hours.  Awesome.  This cute picture almost makes it worth it.

Ryan loves getting read to by Papa.

Going potty is such hard work.  I like to think of this as pay back for never giving me any privacy while I'm in the bathroom.

A few days ago we decided to cut Ryan's hair even more since he gets to sweaty and it's so hot here.  I think it's cute...though I think both of the Grandmas weren't too happy.

Today we watch Ryan's friend and they had a fun time playing in the pool.

Actually you can probably tell that they were both cold and shivering.

...and this is a really old one.  It was some promotion going on at our mall a few years ago...Ryan looks confused.

Ryan's birthday party

Last weekend we had Ryan's birthday party...and I have to say that it was a success!  We rented a bouncy castle from some people in the squadron which is definitely something that I'll do again next year.  It was fore casted to rain but I prayed a lot that it wouldn't during the party so that they could jump...I definitely don't know how I'd entertain a bunch of kids.  I'm not that funny.  Thankfully besides the short sprinkle showers we got the weather was great!  We were even fortunate enough to have Roo's parents drive down for the occasion...Ryan is spoiled!

He LOVED jumping!  He keeps asking me where is bouncy castle went.  Poor kid.

Thumbs up for keeping the kids busy for hours.  And surviving the past 3 years.

Ryan had a fun time opening gifts.  He would tear the paper so gently and then as soon as he opened it he'd ask for another present.  We still need to work on his gift opening manners.

Jumping with his bff

The grill masters.

Thankfully this time Ryan was able to climb up the stairs and slide down all by himself.  The last party we went to with this bouncy castle he wasn't able to so I stood in there the whole time picking him up.  I heard it was a great party.  I had fun too.

We were lucky that it wasn't too hot out...this slide would really burn in the summer.

I am also very lucky to have talented friends who are kind enough to bake for me!  These were amazing!!

I found a couple of cakes on Pinterest a few weeks ago and this is the one that Roo approved of.  I think that it turned out awesome!

Blowing out his candle.

Yay for yummy cake!

Isotopes Baseball

On weekends the Isotopes Baseball team has fireworks after the games...and you know how much Roo we all love fireworks.  We tried getting there a little late because Ryan could care less about the game and 9 innings is a long time.  Sadly we thought the game started at 6:30 when it actually started at 7:05...so we made most of it.  Thankfully there are plenty of activities for the kids like bouncy castles and a carousel so we were able to keep Ryan busy for most of the night.  Then we ran into some friends from Roo's class and they entertained Ryan for us...awesome!

So excited!

Ryan practicing covering his ears for the fireworks.  Last time we went he had a melt down when the started going off, but this year he really enjoyed them.

Even though our hotel room overlooked the stadium and we could have watched them from the comfort of our bed without sitting outside for 4 hours...Roo's I'm so happy we got to watch them in person!
