Ryan's "pretty cool pin"

Last week when we went bowling Ryan got his very own pin.  One of the workers was kind enough to give him own and he was so excited!  He calls it his "pretty cool pin" and tries to take it everywhere with us.  Most of the time I make him leave it in the car--I'm not going to haul that thing through Wal Mart.

Here's another picture that I took of him with his "pretty cool ball" (I'm not quite sure where he learned pretty cool from).

So excited to have his own pin!

Of course right after he got it I had to go the store and there was no way he was going to leave it in the car.

It makes a pretty good driving partner

And yes...he even sleeps with it.

Thankfully he's only dropped it on his foot once, and only hit me with it a handful of times.

Corpus Christi

When we took our vacation to San Antonio we decided to take a couple of days and go to the beach in Corpus Christi.  Sadly the first time we were in the water we all got stung by jelly fish--no fun!  Thankfully we decided to brave the water again and go to a different beach.  We saw a couple of jelly fish floating in the water but thankfully none of us got stung.  Ryan really enjoyed the beach and I think that he's going to have a blast if we go to Florida next.

Us before we played in the water.  I don't think he enjoyed the fact that it was salt water--but he learned real quick that you have to keep your mouth closed.

Daddy was a lot of fun to play with

It took a little trial an error to learn building sand castles

...but eventually they got the hang of it.  Ryan even got sticks to make flags on top.

He was really excited to be made into a mermaid with the sand

On the way back we took a ferry across.

Ryan really enjoyed it--though it only lasted about 4 minutes.  I was kind-of glad because it was so humid and hot outside!

It must have been a good day!

4th of July

I'm sure that I've mentioned before Roos' love of fireworks.  So of course for 4th of July we were going to find someplace to watch them.  We didn't really know which place would be best so we just went with one we found on-line.  Thankfully we found fairly good parking and the place park we went to watch them in had a lot of food vendors (nice for me) and a playground (which was nice for Ryan).

Ryan was such a trooper in the car.  Grandpa got him a video of trains which he enjoyed watching!

We got to the park a couple of hours early to stake out a spot.

We didn't know where the fireworks were going to be shot off from.  A man we asked said they were going to be shot off from the tower you see in the next picture.  Go figure they were not and from the spot that we had been saving for 4 hours, the view was obstructed by trees. As soon as they started shooting the fireworks us and about 100 other people tried to move to get a better view.

Thankfully we found a better view.  Ryan really enjoyed the show!

Sea World

While we were in San Antonio we took advantage of the Waves of Honor program which gave active duty military members free passes to SeaWorld.  I definitely don't think that we would have paid $60 a person to get in...I can see why families save up for a vacation there!  Overall we had a lot of fun!  Thankfully there was a splash pad that Ryan loved running around in...I definitely think he would have been over walking around in 90+ degree weather a lot quicker without it.

Excited to look around!

We didn't bring a swimsuit but he didn't mind getting his clothes wet.

I didn't mind getting wet either--it was hot!  This was before we thought we lost him for about 5 minutes.  Those were the longest 5 minutes EVER!!  Thankfully he was just playing and we must have just overlooked him.

Waiting for the Shamu show to start

This picture doesn't do it justice--I'm sure you could Google it and get a much better image.

Happy Birthday Mom!

We're a couple hours early but thought I'd post now in case I forgot tomorrow.  And yes, the card is in the mail (or at least it will be tomorrow).

We just got back from a fun family vacation to San Antonio...pictures will come later this week!  Here's some from before we left.

The bowling alley on base had a drawing and Ryan won his own ball.  We had to end up putting it away because he'll want to use it in the house--not good.  He's pretty funny because I'll come out to find him watching TV just holding his ball...he loves it!  They even put his name on it!

While Nana was here for Ryan's birthday she planted a tomato plant (at least I think she did--we just had one growing one day).  They finally were ripe and Ryan helped picked them.

Go figure he wouldn't eat any but he had a good time watering the plant everyday and checking them to see when they finally turned red.

One of our neighbors is a dentist and I asked him to just take a quick look at Ryan's teeth.  I haven't gotten around to adding Ryan to our insurance and an exam is $100. Of course if he would have seen something suspicious I would have taken him in.  Thankfully he didn't.  Ryan actually did a good job at opened his mouth--I wasn't too sure that he would.

 Being goofy.

Picture of my bump.  Don't mind that it doesn't look like I'm paying attention in church--I really was!

This is what happens when Ryan dumps a whole bottle of his shampoo in the bath.  Such a stinker!

Joyland

A couple weekends ago we went to an amusement park in Lubbock with some friends.  The day started out kind-of rough by my car breaking down in Lubbock (two hours away from home)...but thankfully Roo always stays calm in those situations.  I'm blaming my hormones for how I handle stress.  Thankfully Roo was able to take the next day off and we were able to stay with a friend in town so that we could figure out what to do.  Overall Ryan had a good time and that's what matters right?

He likes putting his glasses on his head like Daddy.

Such a good Dad

It was fun to see him and his friend ride the rides together--they had a blast!

I'm sure by now the Grandparents are noticing how short Ryan's hair is--Andrew had a minor slip up with the clippers and we had to just go with it.  It'll grow back.
