Thoughts for the week

Here are some of my thoughts from spending this week at my Grandpas retirement home:

* there is no excuse for me to have more grey hair than some of the residents.  2 words...root touch-up

* I need to have more kids so they can pool together their money to put me in a nice home like his

* Enjoy each day.  Don't ever wish that time would go by faster....because it already goes by too fast!

* Be nice to my body.  Be ok with the fact that I'll probably never run a marathon...just appreciate that I can run.

* Be better to Roo.  One day I might depend on him to push me in my chair everywhere...

* Be a nicer person so that one day when I'm old people will want to come visit me

Great Grandpa Bud

We are having a fun time with Grandpa and Great Grandpa Bud....Ryan is definitely the hit of GG's retirement home!

GG is a big fan of Ryan...and says Ryan dodged a bullet by not getting the Greys' ears.  GG said that his Mom used to tell him that he looked like a taxi coming around the corner with it's doors open...how kind!

I have definitely been slacking lately when it has come to blogging...sorry!  Last week I had 2 finals, and in a major Christmas miracle I actually got an A in my writing class.  Roo has his final paper due Sunday...and once he passes this class he is officially done with his Master's degree!!  I'm so jealous!  We did manage to squeeze in an early Christmas dinner and game night with some friends (major FAIL because I didn't take any pictures) and have done pretty well at trying to work off at the Y all of the goodies that our friends bring us.

Here are just some random pictures of Ryan...I promise I'll get back into the blogging mood soon!

Getting under the tree...thankfully now we have presents to go under there, and surprisingly enough he doesn't bother them.

Every morning he runs out to the living room so we can plug in our tree

He LOVES scissors.  He'll steal them from the dishwasher and take them to the tree like he's pruning it

eating some corn on the cob.  When I find a food that he likes I tend to cook it.  A lot.

Clovis Zoo

Friday night we went to dinner with some friends and then headed over to the local zoo to look at their lights.  It was pretty cold (and the lights weren't too impressive), but the price was right...aka FREE.
Ryan having a melt down in the restaurant.  At least it was after we ate... I can't wait for Grandma to straighten him out

Sheer excitement at the Christmas tree.

Lately Ryan has had an aversion to getting his picture taken...as you can tell by the shot of the side of his head..

...or the shot of the back of his head.  I'm glad to see that doesn't stop me from cheesing for the camera.

Looking at the tiger

Last picture before we left...we need to get him some gloves!

Privacy please!

Ryan is starting to sit on the potty that I bought him!  Granted it is when he is fully dressed...but I'll take it.  I've tried a couple of times to put him on it without his diaper and he just cries.  Maybe one day he'll figure it out.  Until then it'll just sit in our living room by the TV...is that weird?

Not enjoying getting a picture taken when he's doing his business

All done!

Name change

If you haven't noticed by now...this blog is all about Ryan.  I should just change the name to 'Ryan's blog'.  Here's some more pictures of him.

If this isn't your first time to the blog you'll know the Ryan LOVES vacuums.  As in I have to avoid the vacuum aisle at Wal-Mart so he won't have a melt down if I don't let him go look at them.  When I ask him where the vacuum is he runs to the closet and is impatient until I open it.

Showing off his awesome Broncos pj's that our equally awesome neighbors got for him.  Gotta love his accessory of choice--a super sharp meat thermometer.

Such a good helper

Reading with Ryan...Roo thought it was a cute picture.

The other day I heard him crying during his nap...but I was busy doing school work (or being on FB) so I just let him cry it out.  Of course I found him like this and felt like a bad Mom.

Videos

My Mom asked for some videos--so I'm considering this her early Christmas present.  Definitely cheaper than getting her an IPad.  The first one is why our house is so clean...and the second one is a game Ryan started playing last night.  He would throw the ball and then put his head to the ground (don't ask).  The funniest part is at the very end.

Play date

This week we had a friend and her daughter come over for dinner.  We had a fun time with her...and I know that Ryan had a fun time playing with Jadyn.
He loves carrying that jug of oil around...unfortunately it gets oil everywhere.  If I were smart I'd empty it out and put water in it.

Big smiles!

I don't think they'd both fit in there too much longer.

Decorating time

Thanks to Hobby Lobby and Mastercard it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas.  I still want to get more decorations, but I think I'll wait to stock up until after Christmas and everything goes on clearance.  Last week Roo (with some help from Ryan and our wonderful neighbors) put up our Christmas lights.
Such a big helper!

Me doing what I do best...supervising.

Family pic

We took a lovely family picture when we were in Colorado.  I just think it's funny that the only ones who weren't cooperating were Roo and Ryan.  Looking at his picture from his baby blessing weekend...it seems like he just doesn't like family pictures.

Touch down

My hours of wearing the 'Baby Plus' device while I was pregnant really paid off.  Tonight we were watching the Seahawks play, they scored a touchdown I showed Ryan how to make the touchdown sign once...and he totally learned to do it.  He's a genius!!

Dancing King

Ryan LOVES to dance.  I'm sad to say that he didn't get his moves from me.  Here are some videos of him bustin' a move.

p.s.  That high score of 78 belongs to your truly.  BAM!

Bun-cha

I'm pretty sure that I didn't even remotely spell that right (or that I'm even saying it right in the video)...but it means "twinkle" in Korean.  At my parents every time we went to Costco and saw the Christmas lights, my Mom would take Ryan to look at them.  He'll open and shut his hands when you say Bun-cha...I think it's pretty cute.

Denver

We had a fun time in Denver spending Thanksgiving with Roo's family.  I'm only up 2 pounds...so I consider that a success.  It was fun to see Ryan play with his cousins (well...they mostly built with Lego's...and then he destroyed what they built), but they all had a fun time together.
Some pictures of our travels to Denver.  This time we mixed it up by stopping at a Wendy's instead of BK.  And now Ryan generally won't be still enough for you to hold him to take a picture.

Excited to be with Nana and Papa

Roo's parents just got an awesome new car...Ryan obviously enjoyed because able to watch a DVD as opposed to hearing Roo and I sing 'The Wheels on the Bus' as entertainment

Ryan took a little spill and scraped his nose and his gums...poor guy.  So we were good parents and gave him ice-cream to take his mind off of it.

At the start of our trip home I didn't want Ryan to play with my sunglasses (he tends to bend them).  About 5 hours into it...I didn't care.  As long as he was happy.

Ryan playing Baby Jesus.  While it may look like he is surround by angels, it's just because the camera is all dirty.  Another thing I eventually gave up on and let him play with.

Daddy's helper

A couple of weeks ago I bought 2 dressers and an end table from Wal-Mart.  I've been wanting a dresser for a LONG time (I'd been using some ghetto plastic drawers for the past year and a half).  We looked at a furniture store and the cheapest dressers we found were about $250.  Wal-Mart had some for $50.  Of course after the 2 hours that it took us to assemble 1...I definitely think paying the extra money would have been worth it!!  I didn't take pictures of us assembling the dresser, mainly because we were extremely frustrated when we were doing it.  So here's some pics from the end table which only took about 20 minutes.
Ry-Ry being very helpful

Doesn't it look like he knows exactly what he's doing?

If you ever stay in our guest room and the table falls apart...we'll blame Ryan.

Trying to be a little too helpful with the hammer.  It has kind-of scary how he was swinging it.

After all his hard work he decided to play in his toy bin

Sunday

...and a random picture from Friday because I did my hair.  And Ry-Ry's.  Like an old man.  I thought it was cute...Roo was a little embarrassed.  Thankfully Ryan didn't know what was going on.

Us all ready for a lunch at Roo's squadron

After church Roo raked the leaves

with help from Ryan of course

Such a big helper!

After Ryan finished raking the leaves...he vacuumed the street.

Are we good neighbors or what?

Playing in his toy bin with his new football...I'm pretty sure he's going to be an NFL MVP.  I'm calling it now.

Bubbles and dinner time

Ryan LOVES bubbles.  Unfortunately for him, I do NOT love blowing them.  I get tired of it after about 30 seconds (I almost bought a bubble gun today.  Am I lazy or what?).  Luckily Roo is such a fun Dad and blows them for Ryan.  Here is some video of him popping them.

Here is some video of Ryan eating dinner.  Without a fork.  **Roo does not normally push Ryan's face into his food.  This was done for our enjoyment**
