More Abq. fun

O.K...so this is really our last weekend in Albuquerque.  Yesterday after the drive up here we decided to go the mall and let Ryan run off some energy.  Lucky for us they had an expo with all types of different law enforcement, including Fire, Air Force, and Army booths.

Trying to take off

Such a cute mug shot!!  I am not posting mine.  I've discovered that I have a hard time making a mean face...it must be because of my cheery disposition.

Roo thought Papa would love this FBI sticker for Ryan

Which isn't too bad until he rolls in it.  Yuck.

FRIDAY FLASH-BACK!

BETSY & BLUE!!!!

It's Roo again!  Angela is always on my case for posting the Friday photos because I have more pics on my computer, more time,...blah blah blah, so here I am.  Plus, it's 2am and I can't sleep because I've been on a night schedule all week...so I thought I'd get off of Bejeweled and post this.  So, here we go!

Although we no longer have our cats...we do have to thank them for helping us prepare for Parenthood!  Ryan- if you turn out weird then you have these two cats to blame...we should of had dogs (dang it)!

We forced them to love each other at an early age!  So cute and cuddly!

We taught them to be patriotic! (plus we named Betsy after Betsy Ross...can't get more American than that!)

We would put them together when they were asleep so they would at least look like they enjoyed each others company!  They probably woke up thinking, "How'd we get here?"

Another "forced" cute picture of them sleeping!

Much like Ryan and Diet Soda, we taught Blue to like Rootbeer Floats!  Not very healthy, but it was funny to watch!

We learned that if you think something is funny, cats don't necessarily think it's funny as well.  Case in point!  I  don't think Betsy ever forgave us for this moment.  Sorry!

We taught them to be lazy on the couch!  Watch some TV...fall asleep...and not have a care in the world!

In conclusion, Betsy and Blue were awesome.  Even though Betsy decided to leave us and go live with the Butterfly's in the open countryside in England...and we shipped Blue off to Angela's parents...we still hold them dear to our hearts!

We miss them!  Meowwwwww!

good-bye,
Roo

More water table fun

Ryan is enjoying his water table...and I'm enjoying being able to stick him outside for a few minutes each day (until he wants to crawl in it EVERY time and I have to bring him in).

Our lovely green grass...

which only grew in one area!

I ended up spraying the porch because it was so hot!

Up and down

Ryan LOVES going up and down our driveway. I think that the slope is pretty fun for him.  On a side note...our street is really slow, and I was making sure no cars were coming.

My new diet

I have been known to start diets quite frequently (i.e.  every Monday).  I think that I finally found one that I can stick to.  Here are some quick steps to my new diet if you'd like to try it:

  • Spray some PAM on a pan
  • Add about 1/2 cup of egg beaters
  • Add some cheese
  • Cut up a hot dog and add it
  • Turn the stove on to medium heat
  • Notice that it's about to rain outside and think it'll be fun to have Ryan go play in it
  • While you're outside notice that your neighbors are outside too
  • Get some shoes on to walk over to your neighbors
  • Talk to your neighbors for about 45 minutes
  • Decide you need to go to the grocery store to get some milk
  • Come inside to have your house full of smoke
  • Take your omelet off the stove
  • Skip that meal.  Ha!!  I saved myself about 300 calories

The Worlds Longest Tram

On Sunday we rode the Sandia Tram.  Roo We had been wanting to do this for a while...but with all of the fires going on, it was hard to find a day that we would have been able to enjoy the view.

The tram took about 15 minutes each way, and you could get off at the top and look around.  It was so beautiful!!

Waiting for the tram to come down so we could board

Waiting in line

Some of the pretty views

Ryan did pretty good riding up.  On the way down he just wanted to walk around in the tram

Wondering whose idea this was

Ryan was most interested in a squirrel that I was feeding Doritos to

FYI...they LOVE Doritos

Trying to see the squirrel better

A picture that could be a postcard.  Good job Roo!

Enjoying the fact that it was 70 degrees at the top

Pics from the babysitter

We found a nice girl on-line (NOT Craigslist Mom) to watch Ryan while our friends that we normally swap babysitting duty with were out of town.  I just want to give a quick shout out to Jennifer for graduating!!  Congrats...and please don't leave again.  It was so hard to carry my laundry up and down three flights of stairs.

Anyways...we met her a couple of days before we decided to use her, to make sure she seemed normal.  And we are now Facebook friends...so it's totally legit.  They had a great time together...and Roo and I had a great time watching movies and eating out.
Ryan's little table.  The first night he didn't eat anything for her either...so I didn't feel so bad!

Happy boy!

We had about 2 toys to drop off with him...so she made due with what she had in her apartment.

he LOVES his blanket.  She said that she was playing music for him and he was just cracking up!!

Our Saturday

Last weekend was the last full weekend that Ryan and I are going to spend in Albuquerque (unless we go up there on vacation).  By the time that I'm back from my parents...Roo should (hopefully) be done with training. So we took advantage and tried to do as much as we could.  We started out the morning by waking up early and going to a farmers market.  We enjoyed some homemade tamales, and Ryan liked walking in the grass...and heading straight for the street.  I have no idea why he does this EVERY time.

After the market we went to a car show and chili cook-off at one of the casinos in town.  You know that song that goes "Beans, beans, the magical fruit?"  Ya, it's true.  We had a good time, but it would have been funner if it's hadn't been about a thousand degrees outside.

nothing like a Slurpee to help cool you down

A truck that reminded Roo of the one he used to have.  In his former life, before a wife.  Or Ryan.  Or a mortgage payment.

Just thought this was AWESOME

We tried keeping Ryan cool by putting water on his head.  I think he was pretty over it.

The casino had an arcade for kids...so we went to cool down.  Roo won us 100 tickets...enough for a pack of candy

How I spend my days in Albuquerque

The trick to staying in a hotel room with a 15 month old...is to try to stay out of the room as much as possible!!  Here is what my day typically consists of:

Trying to get Ryan to leave Roo's bike alone

most of the time I'm unsuccessful

Try to keep him from taking things out of the garbage

Patiently wait for him to crawl down the stairs...and try to catch him before he crawls back up.  It takes FOREVER to get down 3 flights of stairs!

Go to the Y...twice a day.

Go to Sams Club.  Everyday

Try to get Ryan to eat some food...most of the time unsuccessfully

Come out of the bathroom to find Ryan eating my candy corn and playing with my soda

Occasionally get a date night.  We found a sitter and dropped him off last night.  Of course Ryan had a blow out and I didn't pack another outfit.  She made due with an Under Armour shirt and some hair ties.

Enjoy the NM sunset

Let Ryan play in the sprinkler
